The Lawsons (then the Lassinghs, or Lassens) left Husum (in what’s now Denmark, but was then Germany) aboard De Verguide Beever (The Golden Beaver), in the late 1600s to be brewers in what was then Dutch Beverwijck, and had only recently been Mohican Pempotowwuthut-Muhhcanneuw, or Iroquoian Sche-negh-ta-da, but is now Albany, NY.
Many centuries past, and today, JonArno Lawson lives in Toronto, Ontario, with his wife and three children. He is the author of several books for children and adults. His most recent book is “Down in the Bottom of the Bottom of the Box”, illustrated by Alec Dempster.
